Location: Canton Campus (District wide)

Department: Marketing

Reports to: Director, Marketing

Employment: Full-time, Exempt

Salary Range: $43,000.00-$45,000.00 Annually

Primary Function
The Content Creator plays a critical role in telling the Spoon River College story, building brand awareness, and recruitment efforts. The Content Creator is responsible for creating original content for advertising, digital, print and social media. This includes the development and editing of press releases, articles, blogs, ad copy, and social media posts. A content creator will also create graphics, and take and use photos and video.

Business Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

Produce platform-ready assets that meet high standards of elevated design and visual storytelling.

Capture and edit video content specifically optimized for short-form platforms like TikTok and Reels.

Write compelling social content that aligns with the SRC brand voice.

Ensure all messaging is value-driven, clear, and visually appealing to drive maximum engagement.

Acts as a photographer/videographer for the college, shooting, editing and publishing photos and videos that can be used on the official college website, social media sites, in print publications, and advertising.

Researching, writing, editing, and proofreading content for websites, blogs, social media, email campaigns, and other marketing materials.

Execute the overarching social media strategy through consistent planning, creating, and publishing.

Maintain the social media editorial calendar to ensure a stable and sustainable publishing cadence.

Design, video, and photo skills are required.

Monitor and manage community engagement to ensure the brand remains responsive.

Maintain feedback loops with internal teams to manage sentiment and community insights.

Work collaboratively across departments ensure content supports broader college goals.

Manage the full content lifecycle: from initial ideation and creation to final review and publishing.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

Demonstrate writing and editing skills in areas of responsibility is required.

Social and digital media expertise is required.

Understanding of how to optimize content for LinkedIn, Meta, X, and TikTok.

Graphic design, photography and videography skills are preferred including being proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.

Ability to manage multiple projects.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
Physical demands for this position include the ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. This position requires limited standing, walking, reaching, stooping/kneeling. Vision requirements include close vision including the ability to view text from a computer monitor.

The work environment for this position is a typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.
