Position Overview
The Vice President, Marketing leads the full-funnel marketing strategy across one of the most dynamic portfolios in sports and entertainment-including the San Jose Sharks, SAP Center, and Sharks Ice facilities.
This role sits at the center of our ambition, owning the strategy and execution that drives revenue growth while building a culturally relevant, year-round brand across the Bay Area and beyond. The VP, Marketing will oversee performance and lifecycle marketing, brand strategy, and live experiences, leading an integrated approach that connects data, creativity, and fan engagement to improve the business.
This leader will serve as the central integrator across Brand, Revenue, Content, Business Intelligence, and other functions, aligning groups into a cohesive, high-performing marketing engine that delivers measurable business impact. Success in this role requires both strategic vision and operational excellence, with the ability to scale systems, inspire teams, and translate insights into growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY
Partner with CMO to develop SSE marketing and brand strategy that both maximizes revenue opportunities across products/properties and effectively positions the SSE brand through consistent messaging and activation in the market.
Develop and lead a high-performing marketing group, providing vision, coaching, and development opportunities to staff.
Establish and manage best-in-class marketing processes, operating rhythms, and decision frameworks to improve speed, efficiency, and impact.
Serve as the connective tissue across Revenue & Brand, Business Intelligence, Communications, and other functions to drive alignment, clarity, and accountability for marketing-related initiatives.
REVENUE & GROWTH
Own marketing's contribution to revenue across all major products, in particular Sharks ticketing (season, partial, and single game), premium hospitality, partnerships, and events
Collaborate with Revenue+Brand leadership to develop and support sales strategies and product value propositions, positioning and naming, target audience(s), creative development, launch timing and marketing approach.
Partner closely with Ticket Sales, Premium, Partnerships, Business Intelligence, SAP Center, and Sharks Ice to develop integrated campaigns that exceed revenue targets
Lead the development of "always on" marketing campaigns to increase awareness, consideration, and conversion for all SSE products, collaborating Business Intelligence function to develop and implement marketing technology.
Own lifecycle marketing strategy across the fan journey, from acquisition through retention, upsell, and loyalty, driving lifetime fan value
Establish clear performance measurement frameworks, ensuring marketing investments are optimized for ROI
BRAND MARKETING
Work with CMO to refine SSE brand including brand DNA, value prop, and positioning, collaborating with other content-related groups to develop brand pillars that guide organizational storytelling and messaging.
Lead the development and execution of large-scale brand campaigns and activations that extend beyond SAP Center and into the broader community
Serve as a brand champion internally and externally, ensuring a clear and compelling narrative that differentiates SSE within sports and entertainment
Collaborate with Global Partnerships group to develop and deliver innovative campaigns that support partner objectives and overall positioning of SSE to partners/prospects.
Oversee Creative Director and work in close collaboration with the Content group to develop effective creative and content concepts to support the SSE brand and specific campaigns
LIVE EXPERIENCES
Oversee San Jose Sharks game presentation, ensuring best-in-class execution that enhances both fan experience and business outcomes.
Integrate live experiences into broader marketing strategy, connecting events with campaigns, content, and fan development efforts.
Partner with Venue and Technology teams to evolve the live experience through innovation, storytelling, and data-driven enhancements.

Lifecycle marketing and segmentation drive measurable increases in fan acquisition, retention, and lifetime value
Live experiences are differentiated, innovative, and fully integrated into the broader marketing ecosystem
The marketing organization is aligned, efficient, and recognized as a high-performing team internally and externally
Minimum Qualifications
15+ years of professional experience working in B2C marketing, with 5+ years leading high-performing marketing team; experience at a sports team or league with a respected marketing culture is preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required
Proven track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing, values-driven teams, with demonstrated impact on team culture, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
Proven track record of driving revenue growth through integrated, multi-channel marketing strategies
Experience managing high-performance marketing organizations, with a focus on scalability, process, and performance
Deep understanding of lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, and fan/customer development
Experience leveraging marketing technology platforms (CRM, CDP, automation tools); familiarity with SAP ecosystem is a plus
Comfortable leveraging data and analytics to influence marketing strategy and plans
Experience managing and executing live events

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
May be required to travel to other company locations
May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
