Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The student graphic designer position at Wilkinson College of Art, Humanities, and Social Sciences will use their creative and technical talents to create and develop visual material for various marketing and communication goals, as directed by the Events and Development Coordinator. The student graphic designer will work with the Wilkinson Dean's Office Graphic Design team to develop visually appealing content that is consistent with the college's identity and objectives. The graphic designer will provide support for the marketing of college-wide events such as the Engaging the World series and the annual report. Students employed in this position can expect to develop skills in design and will develop a robust professional portfolio.

Responsibilities
Create visually appealing and innovative designs for print and digital media, including brochures, flyers, social media graphics, and website elements.
Collaborate with the Graphic Design team to develop design concepts and strategies that effectively communicate the college's message.
Use graphic design software and tools to manipulate and enhance images, create illustrations, and design layouts.
Ensure all design materials adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent visual identity.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Highly motivated and dependable team player with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across internal teams and external partners.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), with a strong understanding of visual design principles including layout, typography, and branding.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant digital tools.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all materials.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Effective communicator who engages professionally, diplomatically, and tactfully with a variety of audiences.
Ability to interpret creative direction and translate concepts into clear, engaging visual content aligned with institutional standards.
Familiarity with preparing materials for print and digital platforms, including basic file formatting and resolution requirements.
Desired Qualifications

Previous experience in graphic design through coursework, internships, freelance work, or student organizations.
Familiarity with institutional branding and the ability to apply brand guidelines consistently across materials.
Experience creating content for both print and digital platforms (e.g., flyers, social media graphics, presentations, web assets).
Basic knowledge of web design tools or platforms (e.g., Adobe XD, Figma, or CMS platforms).
Experience with social media content creation and an understanding of visual trends and audience engagement.
Basic photo editing skills to support marketing and communications efforts.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and contribute creative ideas while incorporating feedback.
