Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to join our team as a Director of Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales goals and strategies aligned with brand and business strategy.
  • Supervise, coach, and manage the on‑property sales and events team, ensuring each associate meets individual budgets and goals.
  • Execute the sales strategy, achieving booking goals for self and staff.
  • Coach leaders of revenue‑generating departments to set aggressive performance goals.
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans for key demand generators.
  • Focus on proactive and reactive selling with both individual and group targets.
  • Collaborate with Regional Marketing Communications to determine marketing activities.
  • Analyze market and economic trends to adjust sales strategy as needed.
  • Forge strong partnerships with local organizations to increase brand awareness.
  • Review competitive shopping reports and monitor the hotel's market position.
  • Research competitor strategies to grow occupancy, RevPAR, and market share.
  • Provide input in sales strategy meetings and develop innovative marketing ideas.
  • Serve as the primary sales contact for the General Manager, leadership team, regional sales leaders and guests.
  • Act as the authority on sales contracts and processes.
  • Develop community and public relations initiatives through trade shows and events.
  • Participate in sales calls to acquire new business and close deals.
  • Coordinate public relations activities to support overall communication strategy.
  • Support crisis communications in coordination with HR, engineering, and loss prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and union regulations.
  • Implement customer service and brand standards, and support operational aspects of booked business.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills related to hotel revenue impact
  • Highly responsible, reliable, and ethical
  • Well organized and detail‑oriented
  • Strong understanding of revenue management principles
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience as a Director of Sales (preferred in hospitality)
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Valid driver’s license required for client meetings

Physical Demands

  • Requires long periods of sitting, repetitive hand use, computer work, and use of office equipment including telephone.
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 10, 25, or 50 pounds; daily lifting of up to 10 pounds.
  • Must see and hear clearly; operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college education preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Sales Manager or Supervisor in the hotel industry.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
