We are looking for an Art Director for a top media company at their NY offices! This role requires a highly creative visual thinker with strong design craft, editorial sophistication, and a clear understanding of consumer-facing marketing. This person should be fluent in design systems, user experience, motion, and evolving creative technologies.While this is not a formal people-management role, the Art Director is expected to lead through creative craft, collaboration, and influence-inspiring teammates and elevating the overall standard of the work.
Pay rate: $58/hr
Location: Onsite New York, New York
Responsibilities:

Conceptualize, design, and develop high-quality digital creative assets across owned and operated channels, including website, email, app, paid media, and emerging platforms.
Translate creative strategy and brand direction into visually compelling, consumer-facing work that is aligned with business goals.
Partner closely with the Executive Creative Director and cross-functional stakeholders to create work that is on-brand, audience-aware, and performance-minded.
Bring a strong editorial sensibility to the work while balancing the needs of marketing, consumer revenue, and conversion-focused communications.
Contribute to the development and ongoing evolution of design systems, templates, and creative frameworks to support consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
Apply strong UX and digital design principles to ensure creative work is both visually engaging and user-centered.
Support motion-led storytelling and contribute to animation, motion systems, and video art direction as appropriate.
Use performance insights, audience learnings, and testing results to inform optimization and future creative development.
Maintain strong communication with Program Management and cross-functional partners regarding timelines, progress, and priorities.
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, design tools, and platform best practices relevant to creative development.
Provide thoughtful feedback and day-to-day support to junior team members to help elevate the quality of work across the team.
Organize and manage source files and final assets to ensure accessibility, consistency, and proper archiving.
Required Qualifications:

6-8 years of relevant experience in design, with a strong track record as a senior designer or art director creating digital, consumer-facing creative.
Experience in media, marketing, publishing, advertising, e-commerce, or another consumer-focused environment preferred.
Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, design excellence, art direction, and digital execution across multiple channels.
Demonstrated ability to work across editorial, brand, and marketing contexts with a refined understanding of tone, audience, and visual storytelling.
Strong command of typography, layout, hierarchy, color, composition, and user experience principles.
Strong eye for motion, animation, and video art direction, with the ability to think beyond static design.
Experience working within or contributing to design systems and scalable creative frameworks.
Understanding of current and emerging design technologies, workflows, and tools relevant to modern creative development.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high creative standards.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of ADA-compliant design preferred.
Working knowledge of UX/UI design, basic HTML, and social media best practices preferred.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects, as well as Figma, Google Workspace, and project management tools.
