Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead AV Technician to oversee the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of professional audio visual systems across large scale commercial new construction projects. This role is responsible for leading field crews, maintaining quality control, and delivering fully integrated AV solutions using platforms such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q SYS, and AMX. The Lead Technician will also handle system commissioning, troubleshooting, and communication across project stakeholders while mentoring junior technicians.

Schedule / Hours Expectation

7am start

40 to 45 hours weekly

Project Environment

Branch work across corporate, retail, school, industrial, hospital and healthcare facilities

Commercial AV new construction environments

Primary Functions of the Role

Oversee AV installation crews and ensure all work is completed accurately, safely, and to industry standards

Install, configure, and commission commercial AV systems including control platforms, DSPs, displays, and infrastructure

Maintain quality control across rack builds, cabling, labeling, and documentation

Perform system bring up, DSP tuning, control system testing, and final system verification

Troubleshoot audio, video, control, and networked AV system issues

Interpret AV schematics, risers, and engineered drawings

Communicate progress and updates with project managers, engineers, and clients

Mentor and train junior technicians in best practices and installation standards

Key Responsibilities

Lead installation teams on commercial AV projects and ensure schedule and quality targets are met

Install and configure AV systems including displays, projectors, DSPs, amplifiers, microphones, and control systems

Build and wire equipment racks with clean cable management and proper labeling

Perform and oversee low voltage cabling terminations including CAT5e, CAT6, coax, RG6, HD SDI, XLR, RCA, and 18/2

Install and manage cable pathways including J hooks, D rings, and ladder racks

Commission AV systems including programming support, DSP tuning, and system testing

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across integrated AV systems

Read and execute work based on blueprints, schematics, and project documentation

Enforce safety standards and ensure site readiness at all times

Required Experience

Leading AV installation crews on commercial new construction projects

Commercial AV system installation including displays, projectors, DSPs, amplifiers, microphones, and control hardware

Control system and DSP experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q SYS, and AMX

Rack building, system wiring, labeling, and cable management

Low voltage cabling and terminations including CAT5e, CAT6, coax, RG6, HD SDI, XLR, RCA, and 18/2

Cable pathway installation including J hooks, D rings, and ladder racks

System commissioning, testing, and verification

Blueprint and schematic interpretation

Troubleshooting integrated AV systems

Required Technology / Tools

Experience with Crestron, Extron, QSC Q SYS, Biamp, and Dante is required

Basic hand tools required

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required, technical degree preferred

Minimum 3 plus years of commercial AV installation experience with at least 1 year in a lead role

Strong understanding of AV signal flow, AV networking, and integrated control systems

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred

Avixa CTS certification preferred

Ability to work on ladders, lifts, confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds

Commercial AV systems within corporate, retail, education, industrial, and healthcare environments
