As a Studio Design Engineer, you will work with many team members to make the design vision a reality. You will develop initial engineering concepts for new designs, guide and integrate multiple engineering and manufacturing inputs into the surface, propose alternatives that reconcile functional requirements with thematic intent, and build suitable physical models that bring the concept to fruition.

Responsibilities

Lead Studio property set up and integrity including content, data pedigree, ride height, manikin drop, and overall suitability.

Lead completion of studies within the Design Feasibility FC Process from FC0 to K6, including Design Development Checklists, Hardpoints Plan, and integration of aligned plans into the surface.

Integrate A‑surface with thematic, VA, functional, and attribute inputs while maintaining emotive character and art.

Guide initial theme set‑up and development before functional, supplier, or attribute inputs.

Develop and maintain Surface Scaffold files to enable physical and digital model development and theme overlay.

Provide concept alternatives and provocations to support reconciliation of thematic intent with functional and program assumptions.

Optimize and balance inputs to the studio, including consideration of "what‑might‑be" to support the theme vision.

Manage data within, into, and out of the studio.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Equivalent.

3+ years of proven experience in complete vehicle layout/package, including Body and Trim.

1+ year of experience in Catia V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Strong familiarity with legislative requirements affecting the Design Feasibility process.

Demonstrated experience leading and presenting to decision‑making forums.

Demonstrated understanding of feasibility tools and design studio feasibility progression.

Strong understanding of production processes.

This position is open to salary grades 7-8 and ranges from $86,600 to $166,200. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience and will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
