ABOUT THE ROLE

Salary:

Up to $27.81/ hour (DOE)

El Segundo, office-based

ZOO Digital have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Audio Engineer to join our team based in El Segundo, CA. The Assistant Audio Engineer will be responsible for Music & Effects dubbing package prequalification, generating prequalification reports, technical quality control of cloud dubbing sessions, ProTools dubbing package and mix session preparation and conformance.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

Support dubbing and mastering workflows through the preparation, prequalification, and quality control of audio assets.
Prepare, conform, and maintain Pro Tools dubbing packages and mix sessions to client and technical specifications.
Perform technical QC checks, loudness conformance, and create final audio deliverables.
Create, correct, rename, and organize audio elements and delivery packages for clients.
Produce clear prequalification reports, identifying technical issues, risks, and required fixes.
Support major client projects, including Disney mastering and trailer prequalification work.
Collaborate closely with Dubbing, Post Production, QC, and Audio Video QC teams to ensure smooth delivery workflows.
Manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities and tight turnaround times.
Maintain accurate session files, reports, and deliverables while working to high standards of quality and attention to detail.
Use Pro Tools and supporting systems confidently while adapting to evolving workflows, tools, and client specifications.
The role will require continual learning of new and modified specifications from title to title and client to client.

Requirements

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for enthusiastic applicants, ideally with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2 years related experience and/or training. We are also keen to hear from applicants with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are also looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:

Experience working within audio post-production, dubbing, mastering, or technical QC environments.
Strong hands-on experience using Pro Tools to prepare, conform, and manage dubbing and mix sessions.
Experience carrying out technical QC and producing clear, accurate reports identifying issues and required fixes.
Experience delivering audio assets and deliverables within fast-paced, deadline-driven workflows.
Ability to work to varying client specifications and adapt quickly between projects and titles.
Experience supporting final deliverable QC alongside wider production and QC teams.
Experience prequalifying Music & Effects packages, stems, mastering sessions, and other audio assets.
Strong practical proficiency in Pro Tools and audio session management.
Excellent technical QC skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to create, correct, organize, and prepare audio deliverables to specification.

Adobe Audition
QuickTime Pro
Video NLEs a plus (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and tight turnaround times.
Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, SLA-driven environment while maintaining quality standards.
Clear communication and collaborative working skills across technical and production teams.
Availability to support on-site operations, including occasional evening and weekend work where required.
