Skills Qualifications:
Ability to diagnose and resolve broadcast technology problems in a timely manner using effective troubleshooting techniques
Knowledge in methodology and functionality of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) systems and their operation and performance
Knowledge in methodology and functionality of video broadcast and production technologies and streaming protocols
Understanding of data networks as it relates to broadcast technologies
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and maintaining composure under pressure

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide technical engineering expertise to support the GCPS TV video production facility, local school broadcast studios, and the IPTV deployment of the department.
Provide expert-level support and guidance to school studios for the GCPS TV department.
Serve as technical lead for day-to-day operational support for school studios to include video switchers, video routers, audio mixers, cameras, teleprompters, microphones, and video playback systems.
Assist in diagnosing, determining, and executing the correct course of action to resolve school studio incidents.
Assist in designing, planning, and delivering the training of local school personnel on using school studio technologies.
Communicate with school administration and staff to ensure expectations are met or acceptable alternatives are provided.
Provide support and guidance for the broadcast origination of the district's Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) deployment.
Serve as technical lead for day-to-day operational support to schools and district offices for the broadcasting of content via IPTV. This includes sending the local school broadcast, morning announcements, and bus calls for schools as well as GCPS TV and other channels to schools and/or district offices.
Assist in diagnosing and determining the correct course of action to resolve IPTV incidents.
Communicate with school and district administration and staff to provide updates and information regarding the IPTV distribution system at each location.
Collaborate in determining install schedules for IPTV retrofits supported by the GCPS TV department.
Provide technical and engineering support for GCPS TV productions.
Performs evaluation of video, audio, and lighting systems to ensure they are operational prior to and during productions.
Analyze event needs to provide technical support for Board of Education live broadcasts and other live streamed events.
Maintain knowledge of current technology, equipment, and systems of GCPS TV and perform research on emerging methods and technologies. Participate as a lead member in evaluating equipment purchases.
Trains team, as needed, on production control room technologies.
Assist in diagnosing and determining the correct course of action to resolve GCPS TV studio issues.
Assist in leading school studio and IPTV retrofits for the GCPS TV department.
Collaborate with stakeholders to determine requirements for school studios and IPTV.
Have strategic role in engaging with third party vendors and manufacturers to design new school studios and set specifications.
Assist in building the capital budget for school studio and IPTV retrofits.
Assist in quality control of the procurement process.
Assist in project management for studio and IPTV retrofits.
Provide expertise in the production and technical requirements for assigned district events.
Participate in meetings with the district business owner of the event to provide consultation and understand the needs of the event.
Act as liaison between GCPS, third party vendors, and representatives from the host site to ensure a successful event.
Be a team member of GCPS TV during planning, setup, production, and breakdown for GCPS TV supported events.
Perform technical lead engineering duties before and during the event.
Evaluate third party vendor quotes to determine if they accurately reflect the needs of the event.
Provide continuous quality improvement to departmental processes.
Attend and productively contribute to staff meetings.
Employee occasionally is to work events in the evenings or on the weekends outside of district business hours.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include working with electricity, working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and use of chemicals and solvents.
