What You’ll Do
Sol de Janeiro is seeking an Associate Director, Global Public Relations. This role is a key bridge between strategy and tactics within the global communication function, responsible for shaping and driving the brand’s earned media strategy across markets. Reporting into the Director, Global & Americas PR, this role will help lead high‑impact global campaigns, guide agency and regional execution, and play a critical role in defining how Sol de Janeiro shows up culturally.
What You’ll Be Working On
Global PR Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with senior leadership to define and evolve Sol de Janeiro’s global earned media strategy, ensuring alignment with brand positioning, GTM priorities, and cultural moments
- Lead the development of campaign frameworks that elevate the brand beyond product into cultural relevance and conversation
- Serve as a key voice in cross‑functional planning, ensuring PR is embedded early and meaningfully across launches and initiatives
Campaign & Launch Leadership
- Own end‑to‑end execution of global PR campaigns, including major product launches, brand moments, and partnerships
- Drive consistency and excellence across markets, ensuring global narratives are translated effectively at the regional level
- Identify and secure high‑impact storytelling opportunities that position Sol de Janeiro as a leader in beauty, fragrance, and culture
Media & Industry Relationships
- Cultivate and maintain top‑tier relationships across beauty, business, and culture media
- Lead outreach for key moments, including exclusives, features, and executive visibility opportunities
- Elevate the brand’s presence across emerging platforms including broadcast, podcasts, Substacks, and new media
Agency & Regional Management
- Serve as a point of contact and manager of global and regional PR agencies, ensuring clear direction, accountability, and consistent execution
- Align markets around shared priorities while allowing for localized storytelling where relevant
- Drive performance through clear KPIs, reporting, and ongoing optimization
Eventing & Experiential Strategy
- Oversee global press events, previews, and experiential activations, ensuring they deliver both brand impact and measurable earned results
- Partner cross‑functionally to create moments that resonate culturally and editorially
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and develop junior team members, fostering growth, accountability, and strong executional standards
- Support team structure and resourcing, including onboarding and scaling as needed
Performance & Optimization
- Track and analyze PR performance, including share of voice, coverage quality, and campaign impact
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations that continuously elevate strategy
Industry & Cultural Insight
- Stay ahead of trends across beauty, fashion, media, and culture
- Leverage insights to keep Sol de Janeiro at the forefront of conversation and innovation
Must Haves
- 8–10+ years of experience in PR and communications, with a strong focus on global campaigns
- Proven ability to lead high‑impact earned media strategies within beauty, lifestyle, or consumer brands
- Strong experience managing agencies and cross‑functional teams
- Demonstrated success in securing top‑tier media coverage and building meaningful industry relationships
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with a sharp editorial instinct
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate brand vision into impactful PR programs
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
- Data‑driven mindset with experience using insights to inform strategy
- Passion for beauty, culture, and storytelling, with a deep alignment to Sol de Janeiro’s brand ethos
Salary Range: $130,000 — $140,000 USD
