P&ID Designer / Design Area Lead

Contract | Open-Ended | 100% Onsite

Position Summary

This position supports project teams by performing SmartPlant P&ID (SPID) design and layout work of moderate to complex scope. Working under established policies, procedures, and project guidelines, the Designer provides essential technical knowledge to produce high-quality design deliverables.

The role may also serve as a Design Area Lead, reviewing the work of other designers and supporting coordination across disciplines to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

Key Responsibilities

Apply project drawing standards to SmartPlant P&ID design drawings

Prepare 2D CAD drawings of moderate to advanced complexity

Create layouts and schematics for conceptual and detailed designs

Review and check design work completed by other Designers

Incorporate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) considerations into all designs

Deliver quality work while meeting project schedules and requirements

Execute project tasks in accordance with approved work plans

Interface closely with other disciplines to support integrated design solutions

Adhere to industry codes, standards, and established design procedures

Contribute to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and best practices

Plan, organize, and complete assignments as directed

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Associate degree (or global equivalent) in a technical fieldOR

A combination of education and directly related experience totaling 10 years

Experience in industrial or engineering project environments preferred

Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with SmartPlant P&ID

Proficiency in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and Bluebeam

Strong understanding of P&ID development, layouts, and schematics

Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and design best practices

Knowledge of additional Hexagon tools is a plus

Professional Skills

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Effective communication skills with designers, engineers, and project teams

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

Work Environment

Contract position (open-ended)

100% onsite - no remote or hybrid option

Collaborative, project-driven engineering environment
