The
Video Editor
is responsible for turning raw footage into scroll-stopping, high-retention, viral-ready content across platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, while also supporting long-form YouTube content. Your job is not just to make things look clean; it is to make people stop scrolling, watch longer, and come back for more.
Ideal Candidates
You should apply to this role if you:
You understand the difference between editing a video and editing for virality
You actively study TikTok, Reels, and Shorts and can explain why content performs
You think in hooks, pacing, captions, and retention, not just transitions
You can take a 50-minute podcast and find multiple high-performing clips inside it
You know how to make talking-head content feel engaging, not boring
You can create both clean, authoritative business edits and punchy, viral-style content
You are proficient in Premiere Pro (preferred) or other social editing tools
You enjoy moving fast, testing content, and iterating based on performance
You want your work to actually grow accounts, not just fill folders
Not Suitable Candidates
You should not apply to this role if you:
You only know basic editing (cuts, music, subtitles) without understanding performance
You don’t keep up with trends, formats, or platform behavior
You need step-by-step instructions for every edit
You prioritize making things “look cool” over making them perform
You get defensive when given feedback
You prefer slow timelines and minimal iteration
You think going viral is luck
You’ve never analyzed why a piece of content worked
Major Roles & Responsibilities
Create short-form viral content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
Edit long‑form YouTube content with strong pacing and retention
Turn long‑form content (podcasts, calls, trainings) into multiple high‑performing clips
Identify and build strong hooks in the first 2–3 seconds
Add captions, b‑roll, sound effects, pattern interrupts, and motion elements strategically
Adapt editing style based on content type (viral/high‑energy or business/authority)
Collaborate with leadership on content direction and messaging
Organize footage and maintain clean editing workflows
Iterate quickly based on feedback and performance
Stay current on trends, formats, and what is working across platforms
Bring ideas, not just execution
Compensation
$8–$14/hour
Performance-based bonuses tied to content performance and account growth
What Success Looks Like
Content consistently stops the scroll within the first 3 seconds
Videos show strong retention and engagement
Raw footage is turned into multiple high-performing assets
Talking-head content feels engaging, not flat
Content aligns with current platform trends without feeling forced
Stakeholders trust you to take footage and turn it into something that performs
Your edits contribute directly to audience growth and inbound demand
Final Note
This role is for editors who want to operate at a higher level. If you are excited by the idea of turning raw footage into content that actually performs, grows accounts, and drives real outcomes, you will do very well here. If you are just looking to edit clips and move on, this is not the right fit.
