Job Summary/Description:

First Alert 7 / KOSA-TV: the #1 station in Odessa-Midland, TX, is looking for a SPORTS ANCHOR / MMJ to join our team. She/He will be responsible for producing and anchoring LOCAL sportscasts at 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, as well as shooting, writing, and editing local sports stories. This is the home of the legendary “Friday Night Lights,” so we’re looking for someone who has a passion for high school sports. During football season, we throw everything we’ve got at covering local high school games on Friday nights. Then it’s off to Lubbock on Saturdays for Texas Tech football. This person is also expected to be able to do compelling live shots, post stories online and on social media, and enterprise story ideas that viewers can only see on our stations, digital, and social media platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ability to write conversationally and quickly

An outstanding can-do attitude, willing to listen, learn new skills, and execute

Have a sense of urgency that causes you to work quickly and efficiently but with an eye toward details and accuracy.

An open mind to cross-training and being a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ in the newsroom

Experience with non-linear editing a plus

Qualifications/Requirements:

Deep understanding of local high school, regional college, and national professional sports.

Must be willing to submit to a background and MVR check

Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends with short notice

Must be available to work all shifts, including early mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends, late-breaking news, and weather emergencies

Multitask, react, solve problems, and obtain results under the pressures of television production and multiplatform deadlines.

Interact with a variety of individuals, including management, employees, and outside vendors/customers

Excellent interpersonal skills

Act independentlyDisplay flexibility, creativity, and develop innovative solutions
