Sales Manager
UGP seeks a dynamic Sales Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, serving both B2C and B2B customers across the United States. Availability outside regular business hours may be required to ensure excellent customer support and timely deal closure.
Location
Madison, WI – in‑person, retail location.
Reporting & Supervisory Structure
Reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager; responsible for supervising store and sales associates.
Schedule
Fixed work schedule with coordination of urgent action items outside normal hours, as needed.
Responsibilities
Promote UGP’s core values: integrity, hard work, respect, honesty, excellence, and DEI.
Convert marketing‑generated quotes into orders, collaborating closely with marketing to achieve sales targets.
Communicate sales, store, and personnel information to the regional manager promptly.
Adhere to the Digital Code of Conduct and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
Participate in weekly 1‑on‑1 meetings with the Regional Sales Manager and weekly L10 meetings with the RSM and other sales managers.
Assist in coverage when other team members are unavailable, covering email, phone, and, if required, travel to other locations.
Deliver outstanding customer service to ensure the best experience and outcome for each client.
Engage with the local community, attending events such as chamber of commerce meetings and other networking groups.
Determine customer needs through phone, email, or in‑person conversations, focusing on what the customer prefers.
Generate and relay ideas for sales and marketing tools to the Regional Sales Manager.
Collaborate with the National Sales Manager and Head of Marketing to engage customers and drive sales at events and local opportunities.
Manage store operations: opening/closing per checklists, timely bank deposits, maintaining a clean and organized storefront, scheduling shifts, and overseeing retail displays.
Handle supervisory tasks: hiring, training, evaluating associates, approving time cards, conducting annual reviews, issuing disciplinary actions, and approving time‑off requests.
Lead the store during major retail events such as home football weekends, graduations, and large fairs.
Requirements
Degree from a 4‑year college or university.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Previous sales experience.
Strong typing speed and accuracy.
Highly advanced organizational skills.
Proficiency with Gmail, its applications, cloud‑based sites, and social media platforms.
Prior management experience preferred.
