Department Detail – The Communications Department at BGEA consists of the following areas: project management, ecommerce, email marketing, advertising, public relations/social media/promotion, creative services (graphic design, content writing/proofing and production), and Decision magazine, our official monthly publication. The department tells the story of what God is doing through the BGEA by creating print and online content that support the organization’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel, negotiating paid and leveraging unpaid promotional placements, and engaging new and existing supporters with targeted content using a combination of indirect and direct communications channels.
Job Summary – This position writes and edits copy required for promotion of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and affiliated ministries’ websites and produces articles, e-mails, and other updates in various digital media.
Ministry Requirements
Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Writes ministry news and feature articles, posts photo galleries and video content for BillyGraham.org
Communicates with BGEA ministry areas to determine communications needs and creates web articles to meet those areas’ needs
Writes, edits and proofreads copy for ministry emails and other projects
Manages and posts live website content—stories, photo galleries and videos—using web-based content management system
Researches background information related to articles and topics using Internet, BGEA library resources, first-person interviews, and other sources
Maintains factually, biblically and doctrinally accurate content meeting BGEA styles for articles and email communication
Continuously delivers creative products which uphold integrity of Billy Graham and BGEA and reflect glory of God
Co‑ordinates with photographers, social media editors, videographers, designers, project leads and others on assets required for articles and other online content
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities
Performs specified duties of Senior Online Content Manager as directed, or in his/her absence as instructed

Job Specifications
Skills and Knowledge
Bachelor-level degree in English, Journalism, or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as writer/editor preferred
Experience with web-based content management systems
Strong writing, creative thinking, and conceptual skills
Excellent proofreading skills with good command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
Competence with Microsoft Office suite
Experience editing photographs with Adobe Photoshop or similar software
Experience in utilizing internet for research and fact verification
Demonstrated Christian testimony within and without workplace
Regular participation in departmental and other ministry staff meetings
Flexibility to rapidly, cooperatively adapt to changing job parameters, deadlines, or directions
Physical/Mental Demands
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in fast‑paced environment
Ability to be flexible with work schedule occasionally requiring evening and weekend work
Working Conditions
Conventional office environment
Extended periods of work at computer workstation are required
Domestic and international travel is required

I understand that BGEA has the right and the responsibility to ensure that its Christian religious purpose is carried on with the highest standards and is not harmed or impeded by conduct that is inconsistent with the Bible, BGEA’s Statement of Faith, its Christian religious purpose, or its policies.
I understand that any of my conduct which is not in keeping with the scriptural teachings and principles as set forth in God’s Word, BGEA’s Statement of Faith, and BGEA’s policies is inconsistent with BGEA’s Christian religious purpose.
I understand that if my conduct is determined by BGEA to be inconsistent with its Christian religious purpose, the result will be corrective action up to and including termination from employment.
