Business Development Manager

Novel Bio, Vancouver, WA, United States

Salary min: $150,000.00

Salary max: $155,000.00

Who we are

The next wave of genetic medicine depends on better DNA. We’re making that possible.

At Novel Bio, we are a team of DNA experts, artists, and problem solvers who saw a biotech bottleneck and decided to fix it. Our proprietary NBx platform delivers high-yield, high-purity plasmid DNA, the foundation for fast-growing markets in cell and gene therapies, RNA therapeutics, and vaccines.

Now, we’re looking for a Business Development Manager to expand our presence with biotech and CDMO partners, with a strong focus on New England (Boston-area) customers. If you thrive in fast-moving environments, love being customer-facing, and know how to build relationships in technical markets, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Own top-of-funnel business development in a full-cycle sales motion, with a strong emphasis on prospecting, networking, and conference-driven lead generation.
  • Identify and engage new clients across cell and gene therapy, viral vector manufacturing, mRNA therapeutics, vaccines, and synthetic biology who need high-quality plasmid DNA for preclinical and early clinical programs.
  • Represent Novel Bio at industry conferences and customer meetings, with about 50%+ travel, including frequent time in the Boston/New England region.
  • Run high-touch discovery to understand customer programs, timelines, and decision criteria; position Novel Bio as a trusted partner.
  • Collaborate with internal technical stakeholders to scope opportunities and support quoting and proposal development.
  • Maintain rigorous pipeline and activity tracking in HubSpot, including deal stage, projected close dates, and expected deal value.
  • Gather and share customer feedback to improve how we position, price, and deliver our services.

Who Will Love This Job

  • You’ve spent 3–5+ years in a business development or technical sales role at a CDMO, CRO, or biotech service provider.
  • You are experienced selling into cell and gene therapy ecosystems such as plasmid DNA, viral vectors, mRNA manufacturing, cell therapy services, or adjacent CDMO offerings.
  • You have an understanding of plasmid DNA applications and production needs, spanning AAV and viral vector manufacturing, mRNA therapies, and CRISPR/Cas9 technologies.
  • You are a proven “hunter”: persistent, outgoing, resilient, and energized by networking, outreach, and high activity.
  • Highly organized and disciplined with CRM hygiene, follow-ups, and pipeline management.
  • Collaborative and proactive; comfortable operating in a growth-stage environment where you may need to create clarity, not wait for it.

Location

Boston / New England strongly preferred. We will also consider candidates in nearby hubs with easy access to Boston, depending on travel practicality and customer coverage.

Why Join Us?

  • Be a foundational part of a growing commercial team in a high-demand market.
  • Make a visible impact; your work directly drives revenue and customer growth.
  • Work closely with passionate technical leaders and a collaborative team.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, plus meaningful growth opportunity as the team scales.

  • Salary: $150,000 - $155,000 base with commission and equity opportunity
