Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Communications and Marketing Director for a large, mission-driven public service organization dedicated to community engagement, access to information, and inclusive public programs. This is a Temp-to-Hire onsite role based in Vancouver, Washington .

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Communications and Marketing Director will provide interim leadership for all communications, marketing, and public relations efforts across the organization. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution, guiding both internal communications and external messaging.

This leader will act as a key advisor to executive leadership, serve as the organization's primary media spokesperson, and oversee a wide range of initiatives including branding, campaigns, public engagement, and high-visibility communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and execute organization-wide communications and marketing strategy, including short- and long-term planning
Serve as primary media contact and spokesperson, managing media relations and public messaging
Oversee branding, campaigns, publications, website content, and social media strategy
Direct and mentor communications and graphics staff; oversee cross-functional workgroups
Manage crisis communications and ensure timely, accurate dissemination of public information
Support executive leadership with strategic messaging, presentations, and public-facing communications
Oversee development of key materials including reports, newsletters, presentations, and digital content
Conduct market research and performance analysis to guide strategy and improve engagement
Lead or support community engagement initiatives, events, and public information campaigns
Participate in executive leadership discussions, planning, and organizational decision-making
QUALIFICATIONS: 5-8+ years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or public affairs
Proven experience in media relations and crisis communications
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans
Experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration
Strong writing, storytelling, and public engagement skills
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public administration, or related field required (Master's preferred)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This Temp-to-Hire position offers a competitive hourly rate of $65-$75/hour DOE. As a temporary assignment, this role provides the opportunity to contribute at a senior leadership level within a mission-driven organization while gaining valuable experience in high-impact communications and public engagement work.
