Nauticus is a maritime discovery center located along the waterfront of downtown Norfolk offering a unique form of experiential learning for all ages. Through interactive exhibits and STEM to STERN programming, Nauticus uses the museum, Battleship Wisconsin, sailing center, and Schooner Virginia to tell the story of the maritime environment, industry, and the military. The Event Support Crew Member II oversees the cleanliness and presentation standards of the Maritime Center, Battleship, Sailing Center, and Cruise Terminal. This role manages on-the-ground logistics for event setups and cruise operations, collaborating across departments to ensure seamless execution during high-volume port calls and daily operations. Department Starting Salary: $42,398.72
Essential Functions
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Housekeeping:
Lead and work alongside
the Event Support Team to ensure all routine housekeeping and facility maintenance meet established standards.
Oversee and participate in
comprehensive floor care, vacuuming, mopping, surface cleaning, and glass maintenance across all facilities to ensure a premium guest environment.
Coordinate the sanitization and restocking
of restrooms, ensuring a consistent supply of materials and a high standard of hygiene.
Participate in and ensure efficient waste removal
protocols, ensuring proper disposal and break down procedures
Monitor and participate in office and common area upkeep
delegating and executing tasks to maintain organized and professional administrative spaces.
Lead and work alongside the direct daily task completion
to maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.
Other duties as assigned
Events/Cruise/Port of calls:
Coordinate and participate the configuration of meeting and event spaces
directing the movement of furniture and assets to ensure layouts align precisely with floor plans and the needs of the event Team.
Lead and participate in the pre/post and day-of terminal preparations for cruise and port-of-call days
strategically deploying crowd-flow equipment and managing real-time response to facility needs during high-traffic periods.
Oversee the mobilization and inventory of operational assets
including tables, chairs, stanchions, and signage, to facilitate seamless transitions between Cruise, Events and Port of Calls
Direct ground-level cruise operations
ensuring the team is positioned appropriately based on the direction for the Division Head/Event Cruise Coordinators.
Manage the efficient setup and breakdown of logistical equipment
ensuring all items are safely transported, assembled, and stored to prevent damage or safety hazards.

Engage with guests throughout the facilities with a positive and approachable demeanor.
TWIC card eligible.
Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with passengers, crew members, coworkers, port officials, and the public.
Contribute to a positive and efficient operational environment through clear communication and teamwork.
Physical Stamina: must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift or move items weighing 25 to 50 lbs, from ground to above shoulder level, climb, bend, stoop, sit, push, pull, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Education/Experience
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency. One year of housekeeping, special events experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. TWIC card eligibility, preferred.

Work Location: One Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510 Work Hours: 40 hours per week; flexible schedule may vary due to operational/cruise needs; Typically, Tuesday through Saturday.
