  • Develop and deliver level-appropriate business development training and curriculum to strengthen attorneys’ market-facing skills and acumen.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage leads generated from events, sponsorships, and special initiatives, partnering with attorneys throughout the full sales lifecycle (lead identification through proposal, pitch, and client decision).
  • Lead opportunity strategy including competitive intelligence, value proposition development, and proposal coordination, ensuring a cohesive and compelling approach.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the firm’s value proposition, service offerings, and innovative solutions, and communicate them effectively to internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor market trends related to labor & employment law, regional markets, and practice areas.
  • Partner with the communications team on legal rankings and directories.
  • Provide strategic oversight for regional seminars, sponsorships, and conferences, ensuring alignment with business development objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations, industry associations, and educational institutions to expand referral sources and speaking opportunities for attorneys.
  • Deliver Marketing & Business Development (MBD) department orientations for new attorneys and staff, conveying department resources and firmwide BD processes.
  • Contribute to the development of firm marketing materials and ensure offices have access to relevant client-facing resources.
  • Support and execute firmwide business development initiatives in partnership with BD leadership.

Experience & Education

  • 10+ years of marketing and/or business development experience, preferably within a multi-office law firm or professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven ability to act as a proactive, independent, and strategic thinker, balancing local market needs with firmwide priorities.
  • Confidence to challenge assumptions and recommend alternative approaches when appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and rapport with attorneys, firm leadership, clients, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as a team player in a fast-paced, professional environment.
