Role Overview
BlueHopper Lighting, a MeshTek Company, is seeking a high-calibre Director to lead our expansion into the digital public infrastructure and government sector. This role requires a strategic IoT and permanent holiday lighting sales leader experienced in navigating government procurement and building high-level relationships with municipal stakeholders.
This role focuses on securing citywide, multi-district IoT and lighting deployments and helping municipalities transition from traditional hardware to Smart City with permanent Christmas/Holiday lighting. You will lead the charge in modernising public spaces through connected infrastructure that serves as the backbone for future urban technology.

Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Market Expansion : Identify and lead high-value opportunities with municipal authorities for connected smart lighting and holiday infrastructure.
- Executive Stakeholder Engagement : Influence City stakeholders, Urban Architects, Parks & Recreation, and Sustainability Directors. Experience with Smart City Task Forces is highly desirable.
- Infrastructure Evangelism : Lead outreach to cities implementing downtown revitalisation, and IoT-enabled infrastructure upgrades.
- Platform Positioning : Position BlueHopper’s solutions as a Secured, Scalable Cloud-Based permanent lighting solution with an IoT Platform for public safety, civic pride, and Urban Data Insights.
- Procurement Strategy : Lead responses to RFP/RFQ/RFI cycles. Expert knowledge of Cooperative Purchasing (TIPS, Sourcewell, GSA) is a plus to accelerate the sales cycle.
- Ecosystem Partnerships : Build alliances with Smart City companies and Urban Tech integrators for bundled market access.
- Pipeline Management : Utilise CRM to track multi-year government contract lifecycles and large-scale project milestones.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of high-stakes sales experience, with 5+ years specifically in Smart City, IoT Infrastructure, or Lighting for municipalities.
- Proven experience working with Smart City initiatives, urban development projects, or municipal lighting programs.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes, RFP cycles, and public-sector contract negotiations.
- Existing relationships with city officials, municipal engineers, Smart City project managers, or infrastructure developers is needed.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
