JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Media Planner/Buyer helps lead the media team’s activities on assigned client account(s), ensuring delivery of effective, innovative, and strategic solutions that maximize each client’s budget. Drives overall client communication objectives and strategic direction. Partners with client(s) to develop and oversee execution of goals, directives, strategies, and media budgets. This role will report to the Media Director.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:
Four-year college degree, preferably in public relations, journalism, communications or a marketing-related field. Higher-level education or accreditation in communications or related field preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a media planner/buyer at a full-service ad or media buying agency.
Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
Broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of media planning and buying.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively manage, prioritize and report on multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in tag management, including Floodlight tracking.
Ability to translate insights into strategy.
Proficient in utilizing Scarborough, Nielsen, Comscore, GWI, MRI/Simmons and SQAD media tools for cross-channel planning.
Excellent presentation skills.
Complex problem-solving abilities.
Proven track record.
Confident, self-starter who can multitask.
Deep understanding of multi-channel communication trends.
A thirst for problem-solving.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Builds well-crafted, well-researched and strategic cross-channel media plans for assigned clients while delivering best-in‑class optimization and reporting.
Provides POVs on various media opportunities.
Provides research/rationale to back up media recommendations.
Works under minimal supervision to track timelines and deliverables and manages resource allocation on assigned accounts.
Meets with potential vendors to assess their capabilities.
Helps with the approval of monthly media billing and invoice reconciliations.
Participates in new business pitches and RFPs if needed.
Responsible for all execution and reporting (in conjunction with supporting staff).
Develops direct relationships with clients to foster trust and partnership.
Handles clients' concerns with urgency and diplomacy.
Identifies potential new clients for agency growth.
Constantly looks for new opportunities to grow existing clients.
Stays abreast of industry trends.
Serves as a thought leader for both clients and internal teams.
