Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position :

Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, performs various managerial, professional and administrative duties related to the monitoring, implementation and coordination of NYC Health + Hospitals community relations programs, projects and activities. Collaborates with local community organizations, and various health care setting staff and leadership in generating broad community support for the efforts of the System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Coordinates the implementation of the System's community relations activities and programs among health care settings in assigned areas.
2. Provides technical assistance and support for health care setting community relations activities and leadership.
3. Assists leadership in the development and establishment of local Community Advisory Boards to enhance engagement and collaboration.
4. Collects, analyzes and evaluates data on beliefs, interests, needs, knowledge and practices of specific population groups to inform and strengthen the System's community relations activities across various communities.
5. Serves as a key liaison between health care setting leadership, related communities and Central Office in matters pertaining to community relations.
6. Assists in the delineation, interpretation and communication of policy to Community Advisory Boards, health care setting communities, and other related groups.
7. Participates in the development and implementation of community relations training programs.
8. Assists in the evaluation of the effectiveness and impact of the System's community relations efforts.
9. Assists in the planning, development and advancement of community relations programs and initiatives aligned with the System's goals.
10. Conducts special studies and participates in special projects related to community affairs, outreach and public health, as directed.
11. Coordinates logistics for meetings, conferences, presentations and/or other educational programs.
12. Performs other related duties, as directed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Science, Social Work, Public Health or a related discipline; and three (3) years of full-time progressively responsible experience in community relations, community organization, public health and/or social services in a public or private setting; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience, in which each year of relevant training and/or experience can be substituted for thirty (30) semester credits from an accredited college or university. However, all candidates must have minimum of a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization.

• Demonstrated experience working with community groups or advisory boards.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
• Experience managing projects and coordinating cross-functional efforts.
• Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with community health needs assessments (CHNA) and health equity initiatives.
• Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
• Experience with program evaluation and community data reporting.
