Position Overview
The Music Director provides musical leadership and support for Catholic and Protestant worship services and related religious activities. This role supports the Command Religious Program by delivering a structured, professional, and engaging worship music program.
Key Responsibilities
Provide piano and organ accompaniment during worship services and religious events
Direct and lead choir rehearsals and performances
Support both Catholic and Protestant services, including Sunday worship and special events
Plan and coordinate music selections with Chaplain(s)
Lead and develop choir members, including children’s choir participation
Support seasonal and special services (e.g., Christmas, Easter, memorials)
Submit choir-related announcements for approval in advance
Maintain communication with chapel staff and attend meetings as required
Ensure proper use and reporting of musical instruments and equipment
Service Schedule
Sunday Services:
Catholic Mass – 9:00 AM
Protestant Service – 11:00 AM
Weekly choir rehearsals (~2 hours/week)
Additional rehearsals and special services as scheduled
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in church or military music ministry
Proficiency in piano and organ performance
Ability to sight-read music
Experience with liturgical and/or contemporary Christian music
Strong choral direction and leadership skills
Work Requirements
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and special events
Professional conduct aligned with military environment standards
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse religious groups
