Associate – Copyright (Transactional)

Direct Counsel represents a well-regarded Am Law firm seeking an experienced associate to join its Copyright practice on the transactional side. This role sits at the intersection of technology, media, and intellectual property, advising clients on complex copyright and content-related matters.
The team represents a broad range of clients—from startups to leading global technology and media companies—on licensing, compliance, and strategic IP transactions across evolving U.S. and international copyright regimes.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and negotiate copyright licenses, content distribution agreements, and other commercial contracts
Advise on copyright compliance and digital platform issues
Support IP-driven transactions and content-related deals
Counsel clients in music, entertainment, and technology on rights clearance and licensing strategies
Qualifications:
J.D. with strong academic credentials
6+ years of experience in commercial contracting, ideally in copyright, IP licensing, tech transactions, or entertainment
Experience with complex agreement drafting and negotiation
Familiarity with music, media, or digital content industries preferred
Strong analytical, drafting, and client-facing skills
Admission to a U.S. Bar or eligibility for admission
