We’re preparing for Early Access and looking for a Graphics Programmer to help optimize our visuals and unlock higher-fidelity features without compromising performance.

This is a technical role focused on rendering, optimization, and performance. You’ll work directly with engineers and artists to improve frame rates, support better lighting and atmospherics, and enable higher-quality visual content.

Responsibilities

Optimize the rendering pipeline and performance across different platforms
Profile and debug graphics bottlenecks (CPU & GPU)
Collaborate with 3D artists, technical artists, and engineers to support higher-quality visuals
Help implement lighting, atmospheric effects, and visual polish that enhance immersion
Unlock visual features (e.g. post-processing, shader effects) without compromising performance
Reduce technical load on other engineers by owning visual tech systems

Requirements

Proven experience working as a graphics or rendering engineer (especially in games)
Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine rendering pipeline (UE5 preferred)
Familiarity with performance profiling tools (RenderDoc, Unreal Insights, etc.)
Solid understanding of graphics APIs (DirectX, Vulkan, or similar)
Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.

Bonus Skills

Experience with LOD systems, culling, and instancing
Familiarity with Niagara, dynamic lighting, or atmospherics in UE
Experience with HLSL/GLSL shader development
Prior shipped titles or indie projects a plus

Partner with Sim V&V engineers to improve metrics ranging from individual sensor fidelity to real-world AV safety reports.

Lead 3D simulation engineers and establish best practices to steadily improve trustability and test coverage of SIL/HIL simulation use cases.

Qualifications:

2+ years of prior experience as a Technical Lead

7+ years of experience developing C++, Python, and GPU programming

Experience integrating 3DGS implementations with traditional 3D graphics rendering

Expertise with GPU programming, such as Compute shaders or CUDA

Solid understanding of high performance real time simulation pipelines

Bonus Qualifications:

Experience with sensor calibration, including cameras, lidar, and/or radar

Compensation and Benefits
$245,000 - $305,000 a year

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign‑on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
