Payments is the entry point that puts Nickel at the center of every financial workflow from credit decisions to payroll. About the role

As Nickel's first Product Marketing hire, you will own the product story and build the marketing engine behind it. Our customers are not tech buyers. They are operators. Reaching them requires marketing that speaks their language, earns their trust, and tells a story they see themselves in.


We are looking for someone who has done it before. You have translated complex products into crisp positioning, built messaging frameworks that hold across every channel, and launched products to market in a way that makes the value obvious to the people who need it most. You are customer-obsessed, product-fluent, and comfortable being the first dedicated PMM in the room.


There is no product marketing function here yet. You are building it.


You will define how Nickel's products are positioned, messaged, and brought to market, then build the content engine that puts that story in front of the right buyers.


This is an in-person role based in New York City. You will report to the CEO and work closely with the founding team.


What you'll do

  • Create the product category. Nickel is the financial system America's core industries will run on. Your job is to help us own that category, win it, and make Nickel synonymous with it.
  • Own the product narrative. Translate what our products do into a story that resonates with industrial business owners and own the messaging for every customer touchpoint
  • Launch new products. Turn new products and features into marketing moments and generate customer demand before they launch
  • Build the content engine. Write and produce product landing pages, case studies, newsletters, and social media posts that educate the right buyers and drives them to act.
  • Run the community. Create the place where Nickel customers hang out, swap tips, share workflows, and help the team improve the product


What you'll need

  • 4 to 8 years of PMM, product or generalist startup experience, ideally with hybrid PLG and sales-assisted GTM
  • You know how to build a product marketing function from scratch and thrive in the ambiguity that comes with an early-stage company
  • You’re an exceptional writer and storyteller. You can translate complex products into clear, compelling messages that resonate with busy, non-technical business owners
  • You are deeply data-driven. You track what is working, know which metrics matter, and use data to make clear recommendations on where to invest and where to pull back.
  • You know how to work across functions to build a cohesive product message and bring everyone along on the strategy
  • Huge plus if you have experience with fintech, payments, or social media

Compensation

  • Base: $130,000–$175,000
  • Equity: 0.1%-0.3%
