Musical Director
The Musical Director position is responsible for organizing and executing the musical needs of the production within the Theatre Program. This position conducts musical rehearsals, motivates students, and instructs student actors in vocal techniques, musical performance, and ensemble singing. Punahou Theatre plays an integral role in the student experience. Work Year: 9 month
School Year: 2026-2027, Spring Semester
Work Hours: Varies
Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience directing music for full-scale musical theatre productions.
Teaching background, particularly with adolescents, is preferred.
Must demonstrate a deep understanding of the educational value of musical theatre at the intermediate and high school levels, and possess a successful history of communicating and modeling these values to student performers.
Demonstrated ability to teach proper vocal technique for singer health and longevity.
Required skills include proficiency in playing piano and the ability to sight-read music.
Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Finale, Sibelius) or rehearsal track software preferred.
