Graduate Assistant, Marketing and Communications

The Marketing and Communications Graduate Assistant (GA) provides support for a wide range of marketing and communications initiatives and projects, including print and digital projects, web content development/management, social media, press releases, promotional campaigns, photography, video, internal and external communications.
The role is especially well-suited for students with experience in video production, photography and/or graphic design, as these areas align closely with current team priorities.
The position is a great opportunity for an enrolled Lenoir‑Rhyne University graduate student to work closely with experienced marketing and communications professionals, including strategists, writers, designers, multimedia producers and project managers, gaining experience and expanding one’s skillset in the profession across multiple channels. The university benefits from the GA position by bringing a student perspective to the creative process on a regular basis.
Duties and Responsibilities

Write news stories, student profiles, social media posts, press releases, media advisories, community calendar announcements and other promotional content.
Proof and edit marketing and communications copy to ensure that it adheres to brand voice/tone and AP style.
Brainstorm with creative team and provide campus and community outreach to identify potential stories, student profiles/testimonials, social media content and other content opportunities.
Provide assistance with project scheduling and with photo and video shoots.
Provide design support using Canva for internal flyers and digital signage.
Support website needs, including website and calendar updates, internal and external communications.
Support the tracking and additions of student and alumni testimonials.
Provide labels and keywords for photos uploaded to the university digital asset management system.
Perform typical office work, including campus deliveries, organizing of files, distributing mail, etc.
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
