Strategic Manager Youth Voice and Creative Engagement Service
North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Strategic Manager to lead NY Voice, our Youth Voice and Creative Engagement Service, within the Children and Young People’s Services Department. The role will involve managing a diverse team of officers and volunteers, ensuring that children and young people – especially those from disadvantaged and vulnerable groups – are encouraged and supported to engage with youth voice opportunities and have a genuine say in the services the local authority delivers.

Responsibilities

Lead, inspire and manage a diverse team of Youth Voice and Creative Engagement officers and volunteers.

Develop and coordinate the delivery of youth voice initiatives across North Yorkshire.

Engage with children and young people, ensuring they are empowered to contribute to service design and improvement.

Produce professional reports, manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

Work autonomously, coordinating with teams across Children and Young People’s Services and feeding directly to multiple senior management teams.

Collaborate with statutory inspection processes and effective practice and quality assurance frameworks.

Travel regularly around the county area; weekend and evening working may be required.

Qualifications

Significant experience working with children and young people.

Passion for youth voice and participation work with a proven track record of success and high‑quality delivery.

Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and produce professional reports.

Understanding of statutory inspection processes and experience working within an Effective Practice and Quality Assurance framework.

High level of autonomy, initiative and ability to coordinate with senior management.
