Position Summary
The Campaign Manager is responsible for advancing the advocacy, organizing, and communications work of The Way Home Campaign (TWHC), a broad-based coalition led by Miriam's Kitchen and composed of nonprofit partners, community organizations, and individuals committed to ending chronic homelessness in DC.
This role supports coalition strategy implementation by managing partner engagement, coordinating advocacy and communications efforts, and supporting rapid-response and narrative-change initiatives. The Campaign Manager works closely with internal stakeholders, coalition leadership, and external partners to increase visibility, alignment, and impact across campaign efforts.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position with an anticipated duration of 12-18 months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coalition Engagement & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with TWHC partner organizations, community leaders, and policymakers
Identify and engage new coalition partners, including neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations, and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)
Coordinate partner participation in campaign activities, meetings, and advocacy actions
Advocacy & Organizing Support
Support the development and execution of advocacy and rapid-response strategies in partnership with coalition leadership
Meaningfully engage individuals with lived experience of homelessness in campaign planning and implementation
Represent Miriam's Kitchen and TWHC at external meetings, public events, and advocacy forums
Communications & Narrative Strategy
Contribute to campaign communications, including one-pagers, blog posts, social media content, and event materials
Support public-facing efforts to raise awareness about the root causes of homelessness and evidence-based solutions
Assist in implementing communications strategies that increase visibility and alignment across campaign partners
Data Tracking & Grant-Related Reporting
Support data tracking and reporting related to campaign activities and outcomes
Assist with documentation and reporting requirements tied to campaign funding, in coordination with internal stakeholders
Collaboration & General Support
Partner with internal teams and coalition leadership to ensure campaign efforts are coordinated and aligned
Participate in cross-functional planning and meetings related to advocacy and campaign strategy
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
2-5 years of experience in community organizing, advocacy, policy, communications, or social justice work
Experience related to homelessness or housing systems advocacy preferred
Familiarity with the Washington, DC, advocacy and policy landscape preferred
Demonstrated commitment to ending chronic homelessness and advancing housing justice
Understanding of the structural and systemic causes of homelessness, including systemic racism
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Comfort navigating coalition-based work and shared leadership environments
