Digital Producer/Assignment Desk Editor

Responsibilities

Help lead and communicate coverage during breaking news, focusing on accuracy, urgency, and balance.

Monitor law enforcement, fire, and official social media communications, and conduct beat-checks to determine story coverage.

Understand and support the brand of "Covering Colorado First," identifying stories that impact the community.

Create and edit engaging and creative content for digital platforms.

Guide newsroom logistics and provide editorial support for MSJs, producers, and photojournalists.

Edit reporter content for accuracy, grammar, AP style, digital best practices, fairness, and ethical considerations.

Identify and generate stories that will create a buzz.

Be available to work nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Qualifications

3-5 years of journalism experience in a newsroom.

Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and compelling content quickly.

Knowledge of online content management systems.

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience.

Additional Information
Hiring Salary Range: $65,000 - $68,000.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
