Overview
Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is embarking on a mission to create the ‘digital front door’ for The Walt Disney Company, bringing all of the magic of Disney together into a new interactive universe. We are building an expert development team that will create a groundbreaking game experience that heralds the next generation of Disney. This role is for a seasoned VFX Artist to collaborate with game developers focused on individual experiences to build a cohesive product that feels distinctly ‘Disney’.
This is a full-time, remote role. The VFX Artist will report to the Lead and Art Director.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with artists, designers, and engineers to visualize gameplay, magical powers, and transformations based on Disney’s characters and worlds (Disney/Pixar, 20th Century, Marvel, Star Wars).
Add life, movement, and color through atmospherics, weather, and environmental effects using Unreal Engine 5, Niagara, and other tools.
Work with the Lead and other VFX Artists to implement, integrate, troubleshoot, and ensure VFX visual fidelity and performance in-game.
Iterate on game assets via paint-overs, studies, and group critiques.
Serve as a key member of a growing game development team at Disney.
Required Qualifications & Skills
3 years of game development experience, including 2 years as a VFX Artist.
Strong understanding of 3D graphics, shaders, particle systems, physics, ribbons, etc.
A keen sense of VFX movement, animation, timing, impact, and anticipation.
Ability to visualize effects with or without concept art, and create VFX textures, materials, and geometry from scratch to match a broad range of styles.
Collaborate with game design and leads to prototype, create, and refine effects that support gameplay.
Proficiency with Maya, Substance, Photoshop, and/or equivalent 3D/2D software.
Experience with Unreal Engine 5 / UEFN and Niagara in a production environment is preferred.
Proficiency with Houdini and/or other VFX simulation tools is a plus.
Effective communication with leadership and production about updates, issues, and concerns.
Creative problem-solving and interest in building something new and innovative.
Commitment to an inclusive and positive team culture.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Art and/or Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Information
A portfolio demonstrating excellent, eye-catching real-time VFX. Hand-painted effects or realism through simulated assets are a plus.

The hiring range for this remote position is $91,000 to $140,200 per year, depending on geographic regions, internal equity, and candidate knowledge/experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided, in addition to benefits, dependent on level and position offered.
