Associate Director of Communications

Our client is looking for an experienced Associate Director to join their global team in New York. This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-growth tech startups, top-tier VCs, and Fortune 500s across the technology sector. In this senior, hands‑on role, you will lead the development of accounts across all aspects of strategy and communications, while working closely with Account Directors to streamline operations. You will bring an established media network, a trusted circle of business and communications leaders, and the drive to help grow the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead account strategy and communications across a portfolio of high-profile clients, serving as a trusted senior advisor

Drive proactive day-to-day client contact at all levels, overseeing budgeting, invoicing, time management, and strategic counsel

Lead business development initiatives, building a strong pipeline of new clients and driving new business pitches

Plan and execute news announcements, end-of‑month reporting, and strategy execution while managing multiple stakeholders including IR and investors

Lead and mentor teams across all aspects of communications, pitching, and strategy

Collaborate with Account Directors to keep operations running effectively and efficiently

Secure high‑profile coverage across national business, consumer lifestyle, and general interest media outlets

Requirements

8+ years of progressive experience in the PR industry

Prior agency experience is essential

Broad enterprise client experience across technology and business

Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to delegate and develop teams

Demonstrated experience in client management, strategy development, and new business

Expertise in strategic planning and communications

Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in one or more practice areas: AI, B2B Enterprise, Deep Tech, Fintech, Future of Work, Sustainability, Venture Capital, or Web3

An established network of media contacts and business leaders

A track record of securing top‑tier national media coverage

Experience managing and growing client accounts at a senior level
