Radio Announcer - WVAS (On-Call)

Alabama State University, Institutional Effectiveness, WVAS-FM Radio Station, invites applications to fill the Radio Announcer position. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating, producing, announcing topics over the radio, including entertaining programs, political commentary, news, interviews, weather, and other matters of interest, and promotion/marketing of Alabama State University.

Duties and Responsibilities

Acts as scheduled and/or back-up announcer for radio station shifts as directed

Selects and plays music recordings according to established programming format using NexGen automation system

Plays scheduled feature programs, underwriting announcements and station promos according to log schedule

Provides artist, public service, weather, time and other information to listening audience according to log directions

Records promotional announcements, public service announcements, and drops as requested by program director or designee

Participates in "live" community events as requested by program manager or designee as schedule permits

Conducts control room inventory and other assigned measures according to station policy

Maintains professional and clean environment at all times

Perform other duties as assigned

A Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Media, Communications, Speech, or related field, OR 6 months of internship or work experience as a radio announcer, and have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record are required. Must be able to speak in a clear and well modulated manner using correct grammar and pronunciation, and have working knowledge of broadcast equipment.
