Position Summary
The Marketing Manager reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and plays a key role in developing and executing content-driven marketing and communications strategies that increase awareness and amplify the impact of United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (UWTSA). This role is centered on content creation and storytelling, working collaboratively across Community Development, Advancement, and Communications teams to create compelling stories, blogs, newsletters, and social media content that highlight community impact.

The Marketing Manager supports integrated marketing strategies, develops promotional materials, contributes to campaigns and events, and brings creative, innovative ideas to strengthen UWTSA’s brand, engagement, and outreach. This position collaborates across departments to ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and effective communication of organizational priorities.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications within the Advancement Department. All United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (UWTSA) programs and strategies work toward eliminating racial, ethnic, and socio-economic disparities for an educated, thriving, and equitable community.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $25.96/hr. - $28.84/hr. ($53,996.80 - $59,987.20 annually)

Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling

Lead creation of written and visual content including blogs, newsletters, and social media

Collaborate with internal teams to gather stories and program updates

Translate programmatic work into compelling, accessible stories that highlight community impact

Write, edit, and proofread content for a variety of audiences and platforms

Capture or coordinate photos and short-form video content for storytelling and digital use

Ensure all content reflects UWTSA’s voice, values, and commitment to equity

Marketing Materials and Strategies

Execute brand communication strategies aligned with UWTSA’s vision, resulting in integrated, multi-channel communications

Create social media content and support the organization with written and graphic design needs

Collaborate with the Communications team to develop marketing plans and materials for campaigns and events

Support development of campaigns, events, and promotional materials across departments

Ensure consistent use of branding, messaging, and visual identity across all materials

Track and report on basic marketing performance metrics (e.g., engagement, reach, email performance, and social analytics)

Manage quality control of all marketing and collateral materials, including social media, blogs, video, and promotional content

Contribute creative and innovative ideas to strengthen marketing and communications efforts

Social Media Management

Manage and grow social media accounts across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube)

Develop and publish engaging content including posts, stories, and reels

Maintain a consistent content calendar and posting schedule

Monitor engagement and adjust strategies based on performance analytics

Newsletter and Blog Management

Write and manage blogs, including community stories and people profiles

Develop and produce newsletters including Good News Network, Friday Fast Facts, and monthly communications

Collaborate with internal teams to collect and develop stories and updates

Support email list growth, segmentation, and engagement strategies

Proofread and optimize content for clarity, engagement, and effectiveness

Donor / Audience Engagement

Collaborate with the Advancement team on campaigns that increase donations and community engagement

Support development of marketing materials and messaging for fundraising initiatives

Contribute to targeted communications for donors and key audiences

Events, Promotions and Sponsorships

Assist in planning and promoting events through social media, newsletters, and digital content

Support development of event-related marketing materials and storytelling

Capture and share content from events to extend reach and engagement

Assist in fulfilling sponsorship benefits

Collaboration & Coordination

Serve as a liaison between Communications, Advancement, and Community Development teams

Proactively gather stories, updates, and content opportunities across the organization

Support internal teams in elevating their work through storytelling and communications

Administrative Functions

Perform duties in accordance with United Way policies and procedures

Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Support project planning, organization, and implementation of marketing initiatives

Submit budgets and reports as appropriate

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience in content creation, marketing, or communications preferred

Demonstrated excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills

Ability to cultivate and write compelling stories and content

Experience managing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok

Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with ability to work across teams

Creative thinking, curiosity, and ability to generate innovative ideas

Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong communication and responsiveness during business hours

Familiarity with marketing tools and platforms (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) a plus

Basic photography, video, or design experience is a plus

Must possess a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and have daily access to reliable transportation

Physical Requirements
This role requires frequent movement throughout office and community environments, including attending meetings, events, and work activities both on-site and off-site. The position may involve periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying materials up to 30 pounds. Regular use of a computer and standard office equipment is required. Occasional local travel may be required.
