Black River Systems Company, a small,establishedresearch-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY is looking for a Signal Processing Engineer. Wearelookingforsomeonewhocandevelopsignal processing algorithms to detect, decode, and processdigital communication signals.You willparticipatein field tests, signal modeling for operational planning, building, and testing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)systems,suchassoftware – defined radios (SDRs), foruseinprototypesignalcollectionandprocessingsystems.
Position Responsibilities
- Performingresearch,design,developmentandproductionofcommunicationsequipmentandsystems.
- Abletomaintain,troubleshootandinstallthecommunicationsequipmentusingdigitalsignal processing algorithms
- Knowledgeofsatelliteorotherwirelesscommunicationssystems
- IncorporatingtraditionalSignalProcessingaswellasMachineLearning(ML)andArtificialIntelligence (AI) techniques
- Implementingalgorithmsinhardwaresystemsasresearchprogressestowardoperationalimplementation.
- Asrequireddevelopcustomerrelationshipsandotherbusinessdevelopmentresponsibilities
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’sdegreeinmath,electricalengineeringorrelatedfieldandindustryexperience is desired.
- Abilitytoperformin-depthtechnicalevaluationsofemergingcommunicationstechnologies through analysis and identification of advancement capabilities
- ExperiencewithDigitalSignalProcessing(DSP)designormodelingandanalysisofSoftwareDefined Radios (SDRs)
- Familiaritywithsoftwaredefinedradiohardwareandsoftwareinterfaces
- Developsignalprocessingalgorithmstocollect,detect,andprocessdigitalcommunicationsignals
- Experienceinreceiverdesignincludingdigitalfiltering,channelestimation,equalization, demodulation, and decoding.
- Proficiencyinsomeorallofthefollowingprogramminglanguages:MATLAB,Python. Familiarity in C/C++ is a plus.
- Excellentcommunicationskillsneededtoexplaincomplexsignalingsystemswiththe ability to provide technical support for hardware design.
- UScitizenship–musthaveorbeeligiblefora DepartmentofDefensesecurityclearance.
