Tablas Creek Vineyard, a leader in biodynamic and organic farming and the producer of stellar Rhone varietal wines in Paso Robles, is seeking an accounting professional to join our dynamic team. We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist who enjoys a blend of routine accounting work, seasonal excitement, and the unique operational flow of the wine industry. This exciting position is an integral part of our team interfacing with all areas of our operations including vineyard and winery, tasting room, direct and wholesale sales and marketing.

Position Overview
The Accounting Specialist supports daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all accounting functions. This role works closely with the Senior Accountant and collaborates with production, tasting room, and sales teams to keep financial information organized and up to date.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close

Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close

Perform monthly reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts, bank statements and credit cards

Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures

Support annual audit preparation

Assist in streamlining and documenting close procedures

Accounts Payable & Receivable

Oversee the full AP cycle including invoice review, coding, approval routing and payment processing

Track grower agreements and payment schedules

Maintain accurate vendor records including W-9s and prepare annual 1099s

Manage customer invoicing for wholesale, export and internal billings and apply payments

Serve as primary point of contact for vendor and customer account inquiries

Inventory & Cost Accounting

Maintain and reconcile bottling materials inventory on a monthly basis

Assist in developing and maintaining standard costs for wine production by vintage and SKU

Coordinate with the production and cellar teams to capture harvest costs, winemaking inputs, and packaging expenses

Support the Logistics department with periodic physical inventory counts and help investigate variances

Regulatory & Compliance

Prepare Federal and California excise tax reports for timely submission

Assist with CA Sales Tax monthly prepayments and quarterly filings

Work with our compliance company to maintain compliance with state wine shipping licenses, product registrations and DTC regulations across active markets

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

3–5 years of accounting experience

Experience in the wine, beverage, agriculture, or hospitality industry strongly preferred

Technical Skills

Proficiency in accounting software required; experience with Advanced Management Systems (AMS) and/or TeraVina on Microsoft Dynamics a plus

Knowledge of basic computer software (Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft 365, Outlook, etc.)

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

Solid grasp of GAAP and basic cost accounting principles

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $30.00 – $35.00 hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications, for this full-time, non-exempt position (On-site, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM); seasonal overtime may be required
