What the opportunity looks like
The Market Development Specialist will be dedicated to building trade and consumer advocates for Jura, Tamnavulin, and The Dalmore brands in the must-win Florida market. The Market Development Specialist will work side-by-side with our biggest chain retail partners, ensuring stores are properly stocked, merchandized, and sales associates educated on key selling points. The MDS will be a trusted authority on the category as well as our brands, delivering elevated staff trainings, consumer events, and tastings. As well as participating in TW&M MSM quarterly meetings.

Retailer Training & Advocacy

Ensure TWM and major retailer sales associates are trained and motivated to sell our brands to consumers.

Become a trusted presence in area stores and on premise accounts with regular visits, reinforcing key messages.

Partner with and influence brokers and the trade to make Whyte and Mackay the Scotch whisky supplier of choice.

Make certain assigned accounts lead the market in velocity and depletions.

Consumer Tastings

Drive consumer trial and purchase with a regular program of tastings in-store and in the on-premise.

Plan and execute ticketed off-site consumer tasting events, creating new advocates for our whiskies.

Execute a strategy from the Market Development Manager to reach consumers in and out of store, always with a aim to push sales back to partner retailers.

Store Merchandizing

Enforce and maintain ideal brand standards in store, with detailed attention to inventory, shelving and adjacencies.

Serve as Whyte and Mackay’s eyes and ears in accounts, reporting not only on our brand’s representation in stores but that of our competitors as well.

Brand Programming and Support

Maximize in-store programming from Consumer Marketing and Gallo Spirits Business Unit.

Work with team and partners (Gallo, distributor sales teams, store managers) to ensure agreed-upon assets and programming are in place and activated per brand plans.

Skills and Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in the beer, wine, or spirits industry.

A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to a vehicle.

Proficient in all MS Office software.

Social media/digital marketing savvy.

Familiarity with three tier system in beverage alcohol industry, and laws that regulate supplier activity.

Confident and convincing presenter.

Skilled at creating activity reports and recaps.

Diligent with planning and working within assigned budget.

Energetic and dynamic self-starter.

Passion for building brands.
