Marketing & Communications Intern (Rangelands)
Join the Center’s 2026 Summer Internship Program on the Rangeland team as an Intern & Marketing Liaison. As an intern, you will work closely with the Rangelands team and the Marketing and Communications team. Using your knowledge and experience of key messages, target audience segments and primary marketing channels, you will assist us in raising awareness of Woodwell’s Rangeland work.

Responsibilities

Translate scientific language to broad audiences.

Collaborate and support the Rangelands, Marketing & Communications, and Foundations Development teams.

Help build brand awareness, educate, and convert readers into potential donors and supporters.

Act as a bridge between complex scientific concepts and a target audience, translating technical data into engaging, persuasive content.

Participate and contribute to potential webpage design and marketing material for specific audiences such as donors and foundations.

With the oversight of the VP of Marketing, participate in concepts and execution of materials that will help bring awareness to the Rangelands project.

Report to the scientist on the Rangeland team and collaborate with Marketing & Communications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Digital marketing such as SEO and Social Media.

Knowledge of key messages, target audience segments and primary marketing channels.

Academic or hands‑on experience with brand/graphic design thinking and experience.

Academic or hands‑on experience with brand identity / marketing experience.

Experience with social media for branding/product advertising (preferred).

Excellent communication skills (writing, verbal and interpersonal).

Passion for the planet/environment/conservation, a desire to make a difference and to work for an NGO.

Ability to translate science jargon to human impact stories.

Provide 2 writing samples of articles published online for a school or professional newspaper, magazine, blog, or other non‑fiction/journalism outlet. Multimedia or short‑format social storytelling samples are encouraged; submit as links or a single combined PDF.

Qualifications

Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program such as B.Sc. in Marketing or Digital Marketing; Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing; Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Marketing; M.Sc. in Marketing; MBA with a marketing concentration.

Recent graduates are welcome to apply.

The functions of this role are conducted indoors.

Hours of Work

This role is paid on a non‑exempt, hourly basis.

Typically, part‑time employees work 24 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek; schedule to be determined.

Classification and Compensation
This is a part‑time, temporary, non‑exempt position, with a starting hourly pay of $15/hour (based on Massachusetts minimum wage or equivalent in the employee’s state). The internship will not exceed more than 90 days.

Location
Falmouth, Massachusetts (onsite or hybrid is ideal; remote is considered).
