Job Description
Director, Public Opinion and Polling/Commercial Business drives research initiatives with a focus on consumer polling across various industries and sectors. The role expands our commercial market presence and supports clients in tech, financial services, media, nonprofit, industry associations, and academia. The director leads account teams to design and execute research programs aligned with client needs and industry trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage account teams in designing and implementing qualitative and quantitative research projects tailored to client objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with corporate clients to drive business retention and expansion.
- Oversee the entire business development process, including identifying opportunities, capturing leads, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
- Employ advanced research methodologies such as qualitative ideation, social listening, and experimental methods in communications research.
- Contribute to thought leadership by publishing insights and participating in industry forums.
- Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, Ipsos’ products and services, and the competitive landscape in polling, communications development, and measurement research.
- Manage partnerships with a range of organizations, including large, medium, and small businesses.
Required Skills And Experience
- Minimum of 5‑7 years in research and insights, with a proven track record in generating new business and expanding existing relationships.
- Experience leading research and advisory services for commercial clients, including communications/PR firms and the nonprofit sector.
- Proficiency in business development skills: prospecting, qualifying, presenting, needs assessment, and closing deals.
- Strong client service orientation with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Market Research, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Familiarity with experimental research methods and cutting‑edge technologies such as eye tracking and behavioral science applications.

In accordance with NY/CO/CA/WA law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $105,000 to $120,000. Your final base salary will be determined based on non‑discriminatory factors such as location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education, and certifications.
