Athletics: Sports Information Writer/Reporter 26/27

This position is for the full academic year, open only to enrolled upperclassmen. Freshmen are not eligible to apply for this position.

Purpose of the position:

To assist in producing content for college communications regarding all athletic team events.

Expected hours of work per week : 10-20

Barnes Gym and Game Fields; Times vary

Qualifications for Position:
Knowledge of the sports that are being reported
Ability to relate and converse well with a broad range of people
Courtesy and professionalism
Creativity
Excellent grammar and writing skills
Attention to detail
Comfort and ability to work with a variety of computer software packages
Preferred English/writing educational background; accuracy and attention to detail are very important.
Must be available to work weekends and weeknights
Must be a Covenant College student to apply
Expected Duties and Responsibilities:

Gather information by researching and interviewing
Write articles, announcements, etc.
Post content on the college's athletic portion of the website including game recaps, player profiles, and other items of interest
Other projects as assigned by the supervisor
Night and weekend work may be required
Accuracy and attention to detail are very important

Resume skills development

(NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

Communication in the form of- communicating with coworkers, supervisors, away team staff, and referees

Professionalism by- creating a professional environment for our home teams and away teams. We expect our sports info staff to set the tone of professionalism when working all home events
Teamwork including- creating a positive and productive work environment for the sports info team and being ready to collaborate when working the table or in the booth.
