Nesco Data Center and Infrastructure is seeking an IT & Audio Visual Technician in the Greater Nassau County NY Area.
Role Overview
The AV Technician is a hands-on technical specialist responsible for the deployment, operation, and support of audiovisual and lighting systems across corporate, broadcast, and event environments. This role ensures that all media technology operates reliably, seamlessly, and at the highest quality level, supporting both live productions and day-to-day collaboration spaces. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional customer-facing skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
System Installation & Configuration
Install, configure, and commission audiovisual hardware including LED walls, projectors, displays, microphones, audio processors, mixing consoles, and PTZ cameras
Support new builds, upgrades, and system expansions in conference rooms, studios, and event spaces
Live Event & Production Support
Operate front-of-house and control-room systems during live events and broadcasts
Perform real-time video switching, audio mixing, and lighting execution to meet production requirements
Coordinate closely with presenters, producers, and stakeholders to ensure flawless delivery
Troubleshooting & Incident Response
Diagnose and resolve signal flow issues involving HDMI, SDI, NDI, and IP-based AV systems
Respond quickly to hardware, software, or network-related failures in high-visibility environments
Maintain composure and technical accuracy during time-sensitive or live scenarios
System Maintenance & Reliability
Perform routine inspections, firmware updates, and preventative maintenance
Document system configurations, changes, and known issues
Proactively identify risks and recommend improvements to reduce downtime
User & Executive Support
Provide white-glove technical support for executives, presenters, and end users
Train users on AV systems, conferencing tools, and room controls to ensure confident adoption
Act as a trusted on-site expert for AV-related needs
Technical Skills & Experience
Strong understanding of AV signal routing, conversion, and distribution
Experience with digital audio and video protocols such as
Dante
and
NDI
Proficiency with conferencing platforms including
Zoom Rooms
and
Microsoft Teams
Familiarity with live production and streaming tools such as
OBS
and
vMix
Experience with AV control systems including
Crestron
and
Extron
Working knowledge of networking concepts as they relate to AV-over-IP environments
Professional & Interpersonal Skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
Clear, confident communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive in fast-paced or live production settings
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality user experiences
Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting corporate AV, broadcast environments, or live events
CTS or related industry certifications (preferred but not required)
Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for live events
