About the Role
The Assistant Director supports the Local Director in achieving office revenue and profit targets while aligning with company initiatives. This role leads and manages all aspects of project execution—from client engagement and proposal development to budgeting and team coordination.
Primary responsibility centers on operations, compliance, and customer service, ensuring expectations are met through operational excellence.
This is a hands-on management role requiring day-to-day oversight, a strong sense of urgency, and a collaborative mindset to improve processes while maintaining operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day supervision, staff engagement, and leadership while driving sales, strategic growth, and customer relationships
Support the division’s geographic and demographic growth; collaborate with FACS on local and national opportunities
Meet with prospective and existing clients to present services and secure contracts
Develop and manage revenue and expense budgets; ensure timely invoicing in accordance with company policy
Monitor accounts receivable and support accounting in collections efforts
Partner with Local Directors and Business Development teams to share and develop client leads
Evaluate staffing needs with the Local Director; support recruiting and hiring efforts as needed
Serve as a subject matter authority within service lines; stay current on industry developments and environmental health and safety regulations
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Local Director
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)
Strong operational and business development capabilities
Proven leadership, management, and administrative skills
Prior supervisory experience preferred
General understanding of financial reporting
Qualifications
Physical & Work Requirements
Physical ability to stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, walk, and stand for extended periods in varied work environments to perform sampling activities
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer for documentation and reporting
Must be able to pass a background check, annual physicals, and OSHA-required respirator fit tests
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
