Production Engineer Intern
The Production Engineer Intern will support day-to-day manufacturing operations, process improvement initiatives, and production planning activities. This role involves assisting the engineering team in optimizing processes, improving product quality, increasing efficiency, and ensuring smooth production workflows.
This summer internship begins on May 11 and ends on August 14, 2026, with potential to extend.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in monitoring and improving production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of production issues.
Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Help develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain) to achieve production goals.
Assist in equipment setup, maintenance coordination, and process validation activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Provide documentation support for engineering change notices (ECNs), process changes, and audits.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and participate in safety improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field OR
Equivalent combination of education and hands‑on manufacturing experience
Experience with process improvement (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma), root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting, production data analysis and reporting, and SOP and work instruction development.
Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment.
Demonstrated ability to provide equipment setup and process validation support.
Experience in quality systems and documentation control (ECNs)
Work in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
Must be fluent in English (both written and verbal)
Must live in Salt Lake City, UT/surrounding area. Relocation is not provided.
