About this Role
The Managing Director, Portfolio Lead for The Studio at Blue Meridian Partners is responsible for providing senior leadership for The Studio portfolio. This includes setting strategic directions, goals, outcomes, and continuously evolving portfolio strategies. The role involves synthesizing performance and impact across the portfolio, communicating strategies and methodologies to investors, and implementing strategic and operational changes. The Managing Director will source investments, advise investee CEOs, and oversee long-term investments in organizations that address significant social issues at scale. The position demands a flexible approach, working closely with other portfolio leads, the CEO, and investors to advance Blue Meridian’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and evolution of Blue Meridian’s Studio portfolio strategy and business plans.
- Serve as the external spokesperson and representative.
- Capture ongoing learning to improve strategy and operations.
- Set clear performance expectations and monitor progress across investees.
- Oversee talent development and a healthy workplace culture within the portfolio.
- Lead rigorous due diligence and selection processes for new investments.
- Represent Blue Meridian at investee board meetings and provide strategic advice.
Requirements
- Belief in Blue Meridian’s mission and alignment with its core values.
- At least 15 years of professional experience with strategic philanthropy.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Proven track record in leading organizations or teams to innovative results.
- Strong skills in developing and managing relationships and partnerships.
- Experienced in leading high-performing teams and ensuring talent development.
- Ability to synthesize complex data and translate insights into strategies.
- Self-motivated and able to balance rigorous professionalism with responsiveness.
- Strong computer skills and willingness to travel frequently.
