Job Overview
This advanced role leads digital communication for an elected official’s office, ensuring residents receive timely, accurate, and engaging information about community initiatives, city services, and neighborhood projects.
This classification focuses on social media management, audiovisual content creation, and community engagement. The incumbent captures events, produces content, and manages the office’s online presence with professionalism and responsiveness. The position strengthens the connection between the elected official’s office and the community through transparent and effective digital communication. An employee in this classification works under the general supervision of a higher‑level administrator.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the elected official’s social media platforms.
Plan and publish content related to community initiatives, public services, events, and neighborhood updates.
Ensure consistent messaging aligned with the elected official’s communication style.
Capture photo and video content during community events, meetings, and public appearances.
Produce short‑form video and visual content for social media platforms.
Edit and publish audiovisual content in a timely manner.
Ensure timely posting of highlights and updates for residents.
Track engagement metrics and audience growth.
Provide insights and recommendations to improve communication reach and effectiveness.
Monitor comments, messages, and public feedback across social media platforms relevant to the elected official and area of representation.
Identify relevant community concerns and, when needed, elevate them internally.
Respond to residents in a respectful and professional manner.
Support the team in addressing sensitive issues or community concerns online.
Maintain a calm, responsible, and professional communication approach during difficult or controversial situations, including natural disasters.
Perform other related work as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing social media or digital communications for institutions, public figures, government offices, media organizations, or public‑facing organizations. Experience must include creating photo and video content and managing public feedback. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English and Spanish is highly desirable. Experience with video editing software and social media analytics is preferred.
Special Note
Salary will depend upon candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The incumbent must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, weekends, and declared emergencies, to meet the demands of the position.
