WSAVA people resources are provided by Kenes Association Management. The role is available on a self-employed contractor basis only. Contractor basis are responsible for their own accounting and tax payments within the country they are based. Location: Remote with occasional global travel.

JOB SUMMARY: The Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for the operational delivery of WSAVA's communications across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the role works closely with the Secretariat, Executive Board, committees, and partners to bring WSAVA's work to life through effective communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing WSAVA's day-to-day communications across all channels, including the website, social media platforms, and e-newsletters
Developing, maintaining, and delivering a regular communications plan that promotes WSAVA's activities, programmes, committees, campaigns, events, products, and services, including the annual WSAVA Congress
Creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging content tailored to different platforms and audiences
Producing digital communication assets, such as graphics, short videos, infographics, presentations, and visual content, to support campaigns, events, and ongoing communications
Working with colleagues across the Secretariat, Executive Board, and committees to source, plan, and coordinate content from across WSAVA
Monitoring audience engagement and performance across channels, using insights to continuously improve reach, relevance, and impact
Maintaining and updating website content to ensure information is accurate, current, and aligned with WSAVA priorities, including quality audit and troubleshooting
Supporting the promotion of key WSAVA initiatives, events, and campaigns through coordinated communications activity
Ensuring all communications are aligned with WSAVA's brand, tone of voice, and messaging guidelines
Supporting reporting on communications activity and engagement for internal planning and review
Compliance with all WSAVA policy and processes
Other tasks and activities which may be reasonably expected of the role
REQUIREMENTS:
Essential Criteria:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
2-4 years of experience in a marketing, communications, or digital content role
Practical experience managing websites, social media platforms, and e-newsletters
Strong experience with WordPress and MailChimp
Demonstrated experience producing digital communication assets, including visual and multimedia content
Working knowledge of digital content creation tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing tools, or similar)
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and content for different audiences and platforms
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and content streams
Confidence working with digital tools such as content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media scheduling tools
A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to work across teams and with volunteers
Excellent attention to detail and a clear, structured approach to work
A genuine passion for companion animals and an appreciation for the work of veterinary professionals globally
Willingness to adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple work streams simultaneously, and work across multiple time zones
Desirable Criteria:
Experience working in a nonprofit, membership, or international organisation
Familiarity with audience engagement, digital analytics, or performance tracking
Understanding of brand management
Ability to speak/write in a second language
