Job Overview
WNYT is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented News Videographer & Editor to join our award-winning team responsible for capturing compelling video content and editing it into polished news segments for broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate is a visual storyteller with strong technical skills and a passion for journalism.

Job Responsibilities

Shoot high-quality video for daily news coverage, special reports, and breaking news.

Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment in both studio and field environments.

Collaborate with reporters and producers to visually enhance storytelling.

Edit news packages, VOs, and VOSOTs using Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe Creative Suite tools.

Ensure all video content meets broadcast standards and is delivered on deadline.

Export and deliver final cuts for air and digital publication.

Work closely with reporters, producers, and assignment editors to execute editorial vision.

Participate in planning meetings and contribute ideas for visual storytelling.

Maintain organized video archives and manage footage for future use.

Troubleshoot equipment and software issues as needed.

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve production quality.

Work assigned shifts; shifts may change often. Fill in for absent co‑workers if needed.

Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules including when called to cover breaking news, as assigned by the Chief Photographer or News Director.

Drive company vehicle to and from stories under various driving conditions. Obey all traffic laws and safety rules of the road while in a company vehicle. Report any problems or concerns with the vehicle and traffic incidents promptly to the appropriate company representative. If assigned to take a news vehicle home, follow take‑home car guidelines: secure equipment and vehicle, keep the car clean and in good condition.

Ensure equipment is in good working condition.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience in videography or video editing, preferably in a news environment.

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition is a plus.

Strong understanding of visual composition, lighting, and audio capture.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news scenarios.

Experience with live broadcasting and field production.

Familiarity with social media platforms and video optimization strategies.

Knowledge of motion graphics and animation tools.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.

Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

Ability to work alone and with a Reporter.

Must be reliable and able to work additional hours if needed as well as travel as required.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record as determined by the Company.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in areas and conditions that are often noisy, have many distractions, and in extreme weather (heat and cold) and landscape conditions. Must be able to listen to and respond verbally to others in English. Must have manual dexterity to operate camera and editing equipment. Must be able to move quickly inside and outside on uneven, unfamiliar terrain and areas. Work under tight deadlines and in pressure situations. Routinely moves camera equipment weighing up to 50 pounds in all kinds of weather across various terrains for news stories. Must be able to drive news vehicles. Must be able to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.

Additional Information
This position is subject to a pre‑employment driving record background check. A conviction, violation pending adjudication, or adverse driving record more than 3 years old or that does not meet the major violation definition per company policy will not, on its own, disqualify an applicant. The company will use background check information in a confidential, non‑discriminatory manner consistent with applicable federal, state and local law.

Compensation and Benefits
