Video Engineer (V1) / Engineer in Charge (EIC)

We are seeking an experienced
Video Engineer (V1) / EIC
to lead video operations from planning through execution. This role serves as the primary technical lead on-site, responsible for managing video systems, leading crews, and ensuring flawless show delivery. This is not an entry-level position—candidates should have strong hands-on experience and the ability to operate independently under pressure.
Working Schedule
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (plus additional hours as needed)
Travel required, including nights and weekends
Salary position based on ~50 hours/week average
Responsibilities
Serve as the on-site Engineer in Charge (EIC) and lead the video department
Oversee load-in, system setup, show execution, and strike
Operate video switchers (Blackmagic ATEM, Ross) and manage playback systems
Configure LED walls, cameras (manned/PTZ), monitors, and routing systems
Manage live streaming and hybrid event setups
Act as main client contact for video-related needs
Troubleshoot technical issues in real time
Maintain and repair equipment as needed
Develop workflows, diagrams, and pre-production plans
Coordinate with audio, lighting, and other departments
Perform camera shading and color matching
Manage recording systems and ensure proper capture workflows
Complete post-event reporting and documentation
Qualifications
Experience & Education
High school diploma (associate degree or equivalent experience preferred)
4+ years of live video production experience
Experience operating video switchers in a lead role
Experience with LED walls, video processing, and live production systems
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of signal flow and AV networking
Knowledge of SDI, HDMI, NDI, and fiber systems
Experience with Dante, Companion, and IP-based workflows
Familiarity with video formats, frame rates, and color standards
Camera shading and color matching experience
Vectorworks or similar software (preferred)
Soft Skills
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
Excellent communication skills
Ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments
Strong organization and attention to detail
Additional Requirements
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range:
$70,000 – $80,000
(based on experience)
Paid biweekly with annual performance reviews
40 hours PTO after probation period
