Company Overview
TENEX is an AI-native, automation-first, built-for-scale Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider. We help organizations enhance their cybersecurity posture through advanced threat detection, rapid response, and continuous protection. Our team is composed of industry experts with deep experience in cybersecurity, automation and AI-driven solutions. We are rapidly growing and seeking top talent to join our mission of revolutionizing the AI‑Native MDR landscape.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Content, Communications & PR Intern who can write with clarity and conviction across every format and audience — from blog readers and podcast listeners to industry analysts and journalists. This is a writing‑first role that also requires strategic thinking, a nose for a good story, and the drive to connect ideas to outcomes.
What You'll Do
Blog & Long‑Form Content
Research, outline, and write original blog posts on cybersecurity, MDR, threat detection, AI, and industry trends
Develop thought‑leadership articles that position executives as credible, trusted voices in the market
Optimize content for SEO — keyword research, metadata, internal linking, and readability
Repurpose long‑form content into shorter formats: social snippets, email teasers, and pull quotes
Maintain an editorial calendar and manage drafts through review and publishing workflows
Podcast Scripting & Show Content
Write episode outlines, host briefs, and interview question guides for the podcast
Draft intro/outro scripts, segment transitions, and episode descriptions
Develop guest prep materials and talking point guides for executive and external speakers
Write show notes, episode summaries, and cross‑channel promotional copy
Webinar & Presentation Writing
Write webinar narratives, speaker scripts, and slide copy from concept to run‑of‑show
Develop registration page copy, email sequences (invite, reminder, follow‑up), and post‑event recap messaging
Craft on‑screen text, poll questions, and CTA language that drives engagement during live sessions
Communications & Public Relations
Draft press releases, media advisories, and company announcements for product launches, partnerships, and milestones
Support media list building — research relevant cybersecurity, tech, and business journalists and outlets
Assist with pitching story angles to press and tracking media coverage and pickup
Write executive bios, speaker abstracts, and award submission narratives
Maintain a PR activity log and media coverage tracker to report on share of voice and earned media
Help develop and manage a crisis communications draft library — key messages and holding statements for common scenarios
Analyst Relations
Support preparation for analyst briefings with Gartner, Forrester, IDC, and other relevant research firms
Help compile briefing documents, company positioning summaries, and competitive landscape overviews
Research analyst coverage of the MDR and cybersecurity market to inform messaging and positioning
Draft follow‑up materials and responses to analyst inquiries
Track analyst mentions, reports, and Magic Quadrant / Wave coverage
Executive Interviews & Spokesperson Support
Prepare interview briefs and talking point guides for executive media appearances, podcast guest spots, and speaking engagements
Draft Q&A prep documents for anticipated journalist and analyst questions
Ghostwrite contributed articles, LinkedIn thought leadership posts, and bylined pieces for executives
Support executive visibility strategy — identify media, podcast, and speaking opportunities to pitch
Conduct background research on interviewers, journalists, and outlets prior to executive engagements
Content Strategy & Distribution
Contribute to content pillar planning — what topics, formats, and cadences move the needle
Support campaign briefs with messaging frameworks and audience‑specific copy variations
Collaborate with the Social & Design intern to ensure written content translates into strong visual assets
Track content performance (traffic, engagement, leads, share of voice) and use data to sharpen future work
What We're Looking For
Exceptional writer — clear, concise, and compelling across formats (blog, script, press release, email, exec brief)
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts without losing accuracy or credibility
Curiosity about cybersecurity, AI, and enterprise technology — you don't need to be an expert, but you need to want to be
Comfortable writing for different voices and audiences — from a CISO reading a whitepaper to a journalist scanning a pitch
Research skills: you can go from knowing nothing about a topic to writing confidently about it
Understanding of PR fundamentals — media relations, news hooks, earned media, and spokesperson management
Bonus: Experience with HubSpot, Muck Rack, Cision, WordPress, or similar tools
Bonus: Podcast writing, scriptwriting, journalism, or broadcast media background
What You'll Gain
A byline — your work will be published and attributed to you or closely tied to your voice
Real PR experience: pitching press, supporting analyst briefings, and drafting executive communications
A portfolio spanning blog posts, press releases, podcast scripts, webinar content, and exec communications
Exposure to how content and PR drive brand authority, analyst positioning, and demand generation in B2B
Direct mentorship from senior marketing leadership at a fast‑growing cybersecurity company
Ideal Candidate
You write the way people actually talk — not like a press release (but you can write those too)
You understand that every audience is different and adjust your voice accordingly
You ask “so what?” before hitting publish — every piece of content needs a purpose
You take feedback well and edit without ego
You're proactive: you pitch ideas, spot stories worth telling, and don't wait for assignments
You're comfortable working with executives and helping them sound like the best version of themselves
Education & Background
Pursuing a degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, PR, or a related field
Writing samples or a portfolio required — blog posts, press releases, scripts, newsletters, or campus media all count
Campus newspaper, PR club, podcast, or communications experience is a strong plus
Open to any major; what matters is that you can write, you can think, and you understand how a story works
Capstone / Semester End Project — Resume‑Worthy Deliverable
Your capstone is a Content & Communications Program built from scratch and presented to Marketing leadership — a real, publishable body of work that demonstrates your range as both a content marketer and communications strategist.
You’ll Build
A 90‑day editorial calendar with 4–6 published or publication‑ready blog posts aligned to key themes (MDR, AI, AI‑SOC, threat detection, SOC operations)
Scripts and show notes for 1–2 podcast episodes, production‑ready
Full webinar content package for one live session: narrative script, slide copy, registration copy, email sequence, and post‑event recap
A PR toolkit — 2 press releases, a media pitch template, target journalist and outlet list, and an earned media tracking framework
An analyst briefing document for a simulated Analyst engagement — company overview, differentiation narrative, and supporting proof points
An executive communications guide — spokesperson messaging, anticipated Q&As, and a contributed article ghostwritten for an executive
A messaging and tone‑of‑voice guide to serve as a reference for future content and communications work
You’ll Present
Your full content and communications portfolio to Marketing leadership
Strategic rationale behind content topics, PR angles, and analyst positioning choices
Performance data and insights: what drove traffic, engagement, and coverage — and what you'd do differently
What You Walk Away With
A published content and PR portfolio from a venture‑backed cybersecurity company
Demonstrated ability to write across every format that matters in B2B marketing and communications
Real‑world experience supporting analyst relations, media outreach, and executive visibility programs
Proof that you can connect storytelling to business outcomes — the skill every communications career is built on
